Venetian red is a distinctive shade of red-orange that imparted a warm and sensual ambiance to Renaissance paintings. The noble ladies of that era sought to achieve this hair colour by basking in the sun on the altana after applying an infusion-based treatment. The wide hats without domes sheltered their cheeks, allowing their hair to protrude from the upper hole and be exposed to the sunlight, thus achieving the desired shade.
